Is it true or false? Learning to determine the truthfulness of words

No matter how much we try to believe in the bright side of the world, there are people who lie or hide something. It’s not bad, really, even the closest people do not need to know something about our personal life. Everyone has secrets. But there is such a lie or understatement, which harms, corrupts the relationship, complicates life. This applies to many areas of life, such as business relationships, relationships with loved ones or some random contact with people. Let us see how to express lies. This is necessary for our peace of mind and security.

I will immediately say that even the most experienced specialist, psychologist, police agent or anyone can not very accurately determine whether a person is lying. Lying can be prepared and lying can be deftly convincingly told.

Signs of a lie

  1. Confused emotions. For example, when a person smiles, a lot of facial muscles are involved. Not only the muscles of the mouth, but also around the eyes. When a person imitates a smile, the mouth can smile, and the corners of the eyes are not involved. Unnatural facial expressions, and other strange or uncertain movements. At once it may be imperceptible, it takes time for observation and analysis.
  2. Non-detailed story. When a person is lying, he tries to tell without additional details. If you notice it and ask about untold little things, then most likely there will be a pause. That’s because he has to invent a lie.
  3. Aggression. Some people have a bad control over their emotions. In the process of lying, when the situation goes too far, or a person begins to get tired of a lot of fabrications, it can be manifested aggressive behavior caused by stress.
  4. Manipulations. Here it is necessary to distinguish the situation. There is an example where a person does not lie, but simply does not know what to say, so he can answer: “I do not even know what to say…”. Or when a person answers the question: “And you yourself what do you think about this?”. Or the answer is simply a fact of the question, for example: “This is a good question…”. The last two examples may already be signs of trying to lie. But it is important to match such replicas with the context of the situation. A more obvious sign is trying to translate into another topic. Or trying to convince the phrases: “honestly”, “believe me”, “I tell the truth”…
  5. Verbosity and repeatability of words. Unreliable factor, but often when a person is asked about something, and he tries to lie, it can be accompanied by a rather useless verbosity. As they say “palaver.”
  6. Contradiction in the said – a clear sign. A liar may not think about his history and make mistakes in facts. Or different answers to the same question. There is nothing to comment on.

In order to more accurately define lies from a particular person, it is necessary to spend time and communicate with them as long as possible. The more signs you notice, the more confidence that a person is lying.

Examine your personality. Of course, people are all different and different from ourselves. But there are common signs. Knowing how we behave, it can be carefully broadcast on others.

The eyes. Surely now you ask, why did not write anything about the eyes? 🙂 Even experienced law enforcement officers do not take note as the main factor of eye view. So, a person can often blink, look away. Or vice versa… and here’s the problem. Or a liar controls the eyes and does so that it is ordinary. Or on the street may be the wind, or some distractions, which will be a lot of blinking eyes and running pupils. Just look eyes can not be taken as a basis as a separate factor. As mentioned in paragraph 1, it is necessary to analyze the naturalness of facial expressions, emotions, movements.

It should be understood that the psychology of communication is not an easy topic. The article described the simplest ways to detect lies in everyday life. If there is a desire to understand in more detail in this “section” of the science of psychology, then I recommend reading Paul Ekman “Theory of Lies”.
